The Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary and the surrounding Fraser River Delta has been recognized by BirdLife International as an internationally Important Bird Area (IBA). Located in Southwestern British Columbia, it is a crucial stop for birds migrating along the Pacific Flyway. 274 species of birds have been reported at Reifel. This sanctuary protects critical marshland, tidal marshes, coniferous and deciduous forests, as well a large swath of wetland. Wetland birds, songbirds, shorebirds, birds of prey, and waterfowl pass through the sanctuary or live here year round.
