A Winter Morning at Lost Lagoon

1/8/2017

During the winter monthes, Lost Lagoon, at Stanley Park, is a hot spot for wintering ducks. Due to the frozen lagoon, the ducks weren't present, but there was no shortage of songbirds. Chickadees, both Black-capped and Chestnut-backed, Dark-eyed Juncos, Fox Sparrows, Song Sparrows, Spotted Towhees, and Brown Creepers were plentiful in the riparian and old-growth forest. Five Wood Ducks and two beavers also took advantage of an unfrozen patch of the lagoon. Have a good week!
